Please specify on the divorce papers the person who will assume custodial authority upon divorce and submit to your ward office. The child's family register will not change even if the person with custodial authority is the person to be omitted from the current family register as a result of divorce. In an event that a child is to be added to the family register of the person with custodial authority, please submit a "Notification of Entry in the Family Register" after obtaining permission to change the child's surname via a family court.
