1　National Health Insurance (NHI)

(1) System Content:

This is a Regional Health Insurance System designed for those who are not insured by the Health Insurance provided by work places such as companies, factories, government offices, etc. Those who have an address in Kawasaki City (including foreign residents covered by Basic Resident Registration System) other than those who are insured by the Health Insurance by work places, covered by Long Life Medical Care System, or those who are on Public Assistance must enroll.

(2) Eligibility:

(a) Those who are not insured by the Health Insurance by work place.

(b) Those who have an address in Kawasaki City. (Including foreign residents covered by Basic Resident Registration System)

(c) Those who are not covered by the Long Life Medical Care System. (See below)

(d) Those who do not receive Public Assistance.

2　Long Life Medical Care System

(1) System content:

Those who are 75 years of age or older, and those who are 65 years of age or older and have been recognized as having a certain state of disability will lost their qualification for National Health Insurance and become members of the "Long Life Medical Care System".

People over 75 years old don't need any special procedures to enroll the Long Life Medical Care System. By your 75 years old birthday, the Kanagawa Association of Medical Care Services for Older Senior Citizens will send you a "Medical Insurance Card for Older Senior Citizens.".

(2) Eligibility:

Those who are 75 years of age or older. (People with certain disabilities are 65 years of age or older.)
